David Tennant, two Downton Abbey actors and a young thespian will star in a film about the Munich air disaster that killed several Manchester United players.
The film, called United – The Busby Babes And The Munich Air Crash, will be seen through the eyes of Bobby Charlton, who was on the plane that crashed that February day in 1958. And the drama, written by Chris Chibnall for BBC Television, shows Charlton strapped into his seat, traumatised and terrified.
United, which begins filming soon, will show the tragedy of the air crash, but also explore how Busby and Murphy had built their team up with players such as Jones, Eddie Colman, Duncan Edwards and Charlton.
